Your closet is telling you a story right now, even if you haven't taken the time to listen.

In fact, why don't you take a minute and ask yourself the following question:

"If your closet had something to tell you about your life right now,
what would it be?"

Even better, take a few minutes to write this question in your journal and answer it...see what's really there to learn.

Looking at the clothes hanging in your closet is a great way to discover your beliefs about yourself and your life.

You may have clothes that represent a dream of how you wanted your life to be...like having lovely cocktail dresses stashed in all corners of your closet, but you have never found an occasion to wear them.

You might have clothes in your closet that represent the life you lived ten years ago, but have little relevance in your life today. For example, you may notice yourself continuing to buy 'power suits' even though you now happily work from home and only have a need to wear a suit one time a year (if that).

Maybe you hang on to your expensive clothes that just don't serve your current lifestyle, because you're not sure if you could ever afford them again if you needed them (this is especially common after a major transition like a divorce or change of career).

And just who are you dressing for?

Without even realizing it, many women dress a certain way because of the influence of their mother, their friends, their spouse, or the salesperson at the boutique they love...but they haven't stopped to ask themselves if THEY truly love the looks they are wearing.

Our closets represent our dreams, our hopes, our fears, our aspirations, our feelings of limitations or lack, our joys, and our sorrows.

Clearing out your closet is a wonderful way to not only discover what's going on inside you so you can let that go as well, but also to dress for the person you are today.

So again, here's the question:

"If your closet had something to tell you about your life right now,
what would it be?"
