What Is Your Home Telling You?

“We must cultivate our garden.”

Voltaire

I believe that our living and working environments tell the story of what's going on inside us (and can give us clues about where we're on track and where we're dishonoring or neglecting ourselves in some way).

So if your home and the things in your home could speak, what do you suppose they'd be saying to you?

What could you learn about yourself by taking a quiet moment and looking around you?

Want to give it a try?

Take a couple of moments and really look at your home (or imagine yourself in your home, walking through each room).

See what's around you as if you have never seen the rooms before...imagine yourself as a visitor in your own life.

Then gently ask yourself the following questions, followed by a brief moment of quiet to savor and really acknowledge what you learn. You may even want to jot down what comes to you. What is your home telling you about your relationships and your social life?

And what does it tell you about how you spend money?

What does your home tell you about your current priorities?

And how you spend your time?

What does it say about your relationship with your work?

What does your home say about your self care? Your health?

Again, take a few moments to jot down the thoughts and images that come to you. What are you discovering?

Your stuff has something valuable to teach you if you're willing to learn.

And remember, no blame, no shame, and no judgment.

Simply knowledge.

And then, of course, you have the choice to use that knowledge in any way you please. In some cases, what you discover may be a wake-up call...your home may be trying to get your attention!

So if your home is letting you know that you have not been fully supporting yourself in some way lately, what is ONE little way that you can support yourself today?
