Kabekona Cabin Rules
"Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day
listening to the murmur of water,
or watching the clouds float across the sky,
is hardly a waste of time."
John Lubbock
To my total delight, I was unexpectedly able to spend a lovely couple
of days at my aunt's cabin on Kabekona Lake, Minnesota (which is still
one of my very favorite places on earth) over the weekend.
As kids, we used to come up here every summer. I learned how to water
ski here, found the best places for picking blueberries, swung in the
hammock, spent hours on the dock and in the water, listened for the
loons, roasted marshmallows to make s'mores, and never quite figured
out which plants were poison ivy (no matter how many times grandma
showed me).
Coming here brings back wonderful memories...and as an adult, I still
love all of these wonderful signs of being at the cabin.
And imagine the smile on my face when I arrived to see this list of
cabin rules posted front and center on the refrigerator door,
surrounded by family photos of the grandkids. So of course I had to
share them with you!
Note: following these rules will take care of 95% of the clutter and
issues in any cabin (or home, for that matter).
