The "Just Because" Series

transform their life is
remind themselves to
think and behave
a little bit
differently, each day.

have made it difficult?"

Recently I woke up in the middle of the night with this refrain in my head..."Just because ___ doesn't mean ____."
So, of course I grabbed a pen and paper and started writing (when I get
a middle-of-the-night 'download' like that, I always pay attention).
And that was all it took to have the rest practically write itself...so
here's what showed up:
Just because you like (or love) something doesn't mean you have to buy it.
Just because something is cheap or on sale doesn't mean you have to buy it, either.
Just because something is one-of-a-kind doesn't mean you have to take it home with you.
Just because there is "perceived urgency" (if you don't get it today it will be gone forever) doesn't mean you have to buy it.
Just because something is free doesn't mean you need to take it.
Just because you can buy two-for-one doesn't mean you need to buy two.
Just because you get a gift with purchase doesn't mean you need to take the gift.
Just because you find something fantastic at someone else's
garage sale doesn't mean it should come home with you to sit in your
garage.
Just because you win a prize doesn't mean you need to take the prize.
Just because you find something 'perfectly good' sitting on the side of the road doesn't mean you should rescue it.
Just because you have a great idea doesn't mean you need to act on it now.
Just because you have a great idea doesn't mean you need to save it to act on later, either.
Just because you could refinish that old piece of furniture so you could find some use for it doesn't mean you need to.
Just because you see a great recipe doesn't mean you need to clip it out.
Just because you come across plans for a fun project doesn't mean you need to put it on your to-do list.
Just because something is available for you to purchase, do, or implement, doesn't mean you need to.
...You could simply enjoy to the hilt all of those things in that one brilliant moment, and walk right on by.
