Your Home Is A Reflection Of Your Beliefs

"Studies show it's the emotional brain that controls all your behavior.
All these are reflected in your house by the way you design it,
decorate it, organize it, and keep it clean.
At the same time, every room serves a purpose
and tells part of your personal story."

Kathryn Robyn
The Emotional House

Your home is not simply a place where you live.

Your home is a reflection of everything you believe about yourself and what's possible for your life.

It's a mirror of what you believe, consciously or unconsciously, about what you deserve in life, whether it's joy or suffering, peace or chaos, or abundance or scarcity.

Your home is a reflection of what you believe about housekeeping and self-care.

Your house is also a mirror of what's important to you, like where and how you spend your time and energy.

And here's the kicker:

The areas in your home where you feel joyful, peaceful, at ease, and fully alive are reflecting back beliefs that are TRUE for you.

These areas in your home are showing you the beliefs that support you in being your very best self.

Want to see how?

For your favorite room:

First, write down your favorite area or room in your home: ____________________

Then, write down what you love most about it:_____________________________

Third, write down how that room makes you feel:____________________________

Now, you very likely also have areas in your home that don't feel this wonderful, right? So do the same steps about areas that don't feel so good.

For your least favorite room:

First, write down your least favorite area or room in your home: ________________

Then, write down what you like least about it: _______________________________

Third, write down how that room makes you feel: _____________________________

(By the way, the areas in your home that don't feel so good are simply reflecting back beliefs, again either conscious or unconscious, that you currently do believe but that are NOT true for you. When you believe something that is not true for you, it will always show up as painful or tight or uncomfortable...and that's the wonderful clue you are given as an opportunity to either change or let go of the belief.)

This very simple exercise starts to show you the power of your living spaces in reflecting back how you feel.

And in case you're starting to feel guilty or embarrassed, just know that your home is not there to make you feel bad.

Your home is simply a wonderful way to easily gain access to the clues about where your life is working well and where it isn't.

And when you gently start making changes (one small step at a time) in your home, you are shifting those beliefs at the core...which create ripple effects in every other area of your life as well.
