Garage Tool Organizer

A good garage tool organizer is worth its weight in gold...so you can easily find the tools you need in the middle of your project!

And honestly, there are so many good organizers available that you can find whatever you can possibly imagine to help you keep your garage efficient and nice to look at (and in my book, that is just as important as efficiency).

Slatwall organizers are similar to the pegboard idea, but allow you to add bins, hooks, and even cabinets and shelving right on the slats, so you can adjust everything to fit your exact specifications.

Cord wraps are handy for keeping your extension cords, ropes, and hoses coiled neatly and hung on the wall.

Pegboard works great for hanging tools (and for ease of finding tools and putting them back, outline your tools with a Sharpie or other marker once you've hung them all the way you want them).

Bins of all sizes work great; use small bins for nails, screws, etc., and use larger bins for hand tools, electric tools, painting supplies such as rollers and painters tape, and other loose items.

Garage Work Benches

No matter what size your garage, garage work benches create usable work space for you to handle your projects with ease.

And the truth is, having a good work surface is one of the most important tools in your home shop or garage for making repairs and doing small and large projects.

Whether you're an occasional weekend project lover, or use your work bench on a regular basis, the more yours fits your needs the more often you will find yourself using it.

Here are some components of a great work bench:

  • it must be sturdy and strong enough that it can handle whatever project you're doing
  • it must have solid legs, with no wobbling
  • it must have a large work surface that can stand some (or a lot of!) abuse
  • it must easily fit the available space in your garage, and be easily accessible when you want to use it

Depending on your needs, you may also want shelves or drawers below and/or above your workbench, cabinets, and organizing pegboard to keep your tools close by and handy.

You can either make your own, or there are many garage work benches and kits to purchase.

If you are short on garage tool organizer space in your garage, fold-down garage work benches can work really well.
