Tool Box Organizer
I'm a gal who likes her tools, and a good tool box organizer can help
you find exactly what you need, right when you need it.
Tool boxes are a really handy way to not only store your tools,
but also be able to conveniently carry them with you to where you need
them (as long as your tool box is not the size of a jet airplane).
Tool Box Construction
Most
tool boxes come in either metal or plastic, and each has its pros and
cons. Metal is stronger and more durable than plastic, but is also
heavier and may rust. Plastic tool boxes may be less durable, but are
much lighter and won't rust.
Tool Box Design
Most tool boxes are designed at a
minimum with smaller spaces, trays, or bins for smaller items, longer
and narrow slots for things like screwdrivers and pliers, and larger
areas for larger items like hammers and smaller electric tools.
If you
have a larger tool box organizer, you have even more options and more
space, including room for larger tools like cordless drills.
How to Arrange Your Tool Box
Put
the tools you use more regularly in the most easily accessible part of
your toolbox, reserving the other spaces, including the bottom of the
box, for tools you don't use as often.
I
have a pretty simple tool box myself. It looks a bit like an
old-fashioned lunch bucket, with the lid that flips open. On the top
tray of my tool box organizer, I keep my screwdrivers, both regular and
Phillips, because I use them all the time. In the open bin below, I
keep my hammer, tape measure (a nice, sturdy 25 foot one), pliers,
wrenches, razor blade knife/box cutter (use it all the time, too), and
other various items.
My cordless electric drill has its own case. :)
You can use foam fit
organizers, trays with dividers, bins, and baggies to keep similar
items sorted and separate from each other. That's much easier than
having everything jumbled all together...which is a natural recipe for
"can't find what you want when you need it."
